Knitting Graph Paper Graph paper differs from standard square grid paper in that the spaces are wider than they are high, as is the case with knitting stitches. Using standard grid paper rather than knitting graph paper to chart a design for your knitting will cause the design to be distorted once knitted. You will need graph paper appropriate to your gauge, so will need to knit a swatch in order to know the correct needle size and number of stitches and rows.
