Simple Scarf Pattern The most simple of all scarf patterns! A fast and friendly pattern for knitting apprentices! Materials Needed: 100-175g (3.5 - 5 oz) handspun yarn or commercially spun yarn, depending on the thickness of the yarn. The diameter/thickness of the yarn is not particularly important for this pattern as this scarf is very forgiving. You can even draft thin slivers from your handpainted roving and knit the fibre without spinning any twist into it! 1 pair of knitting needles - again, the size is not crucial. Larger needles 7mm ++ will give an airy, lace effect, while thinner needles will create a tighter, more compact fabric. Method: Cast on 40 stitches. Knit all stitches, all rows until scarf measures 110cm (43 in) or desired length. Cast off. |
